Girls: new song + show 5/14
We go away for a little bit and all sorts of things happen. First up is Girls, San Franciso’s own indie pop geniuses who manage to put a bit of that endless summer into all their songs. They took down the hits (“Lust for Life” and “Summertime”) from their myspace, but put up a dreamy new fuzzed out piece of bliss called “Morning Light”. Its like the love child of the Jesus and Mary Chain, Sonic Youth, and My Bloody Valentine or something. Yeah, maybe that sound has been done a lot but when its done right how can you say no? You can’t and should not say no, go listen:
These kids are playing an all ages show tomorrow with Port Obrien (who were, like, the exclusive download over at Other Music Digital.) I think these guys are out to be the next Modest Mouse, err big thing. Maybe they’re your next big thing! Also on the bill is the pitchfork approved, horribly named, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin. I don’t really know anything about them, but I do remember the first time somebody mentioned the band to me. I couldn’t help at laugh at that ridiculous name.
Girls are on first, come early! We are!
