I couldn’t wait…

November 3rd, 2008 by Lux

So, I know its a bit early, seeing as this show isn’t till the 20th but I couldn’t wait. Mark your calenders and save the date, The one show i have been stoked for in a while.

Everyone knows I am in love with The Vivian Girls. The Nodzzz are totally fun, and Love Is All were fun to see when they played the record store. The only way this show could get better is if PENS where playing.

Flier Fight!!!

August 15th, 2008 by Lux

So, I have now come across 3 different fliers for the Mon Cousin Belge record release party at Cafe Du Nord on the 17th. So lets play a game. Leave a comment telling which band designed which flier, an explanation on why, and which one is your favorite. So far there is nothing to win or gain in doing this, but maybe i’ll just be nice and give some lucky person my spot on the guest list for the show. Seeing as i don’t even know if there is a guest list, maybe i’ll just send you a new, rad, Passionistas T-shirt, or hell maybe both! - OK!
1. - The one you have seen before.

2 -

3 -

OH, yeah, leave a comment on the video flier too if you want… its just underneath this post. And I know it’s easy to tell who did what - so this is all based on why, the best why might win! BEGIN FLIERFIGHT!!

Mission Creek & Blammos Present Indie Music Video Festival

July 8th, 2008 by Lux

Hey, I just read about this from The Bay Bridged and thought I would repost it here to let all the cool bands on this label in on the fun! You know that the Passionistas will be submitting something fun and exciting (and maybe a little controversial) Even thought we are not playing Mission Creek this year…

here is the post taken from The Bay Bridged

“The annual Mission Creek Music & Arts Festival is coming up fast, and you’ll be able to read more about it here on The Bay Bridged as it approaches. But for now, we wanted to remind any bands that haven’t entered their music video into the Bay Area Indie Music Video Festival to do it now.

For the second year, local indie pop band Blammos has organized this great event that allows local bands to submit their videos for the chance to be featured at the Festival, which this year takes place at a href=”www.atasite.org”>Artist’s Television Access (ATA).

Bands must submit their videos by next Wed., July 16 to be considered. The video must be independently produced and under 5 minutes, and all you have to do is send the web link to blammostheband@yahoo.com. All genres are encouraged. If you’re not a filmmaker, but want to check out the show, head over to ATA next Saturday, July 19. 8pm, $7.”

Alright! get started on those videos!

Why I Love SoCow

June 10th, 2008 by Lux

Ok, for those who dont know, I’m in the Passionistas. Recently we played a show that you might have been to or heard about on this blog, I was intrigued and happy to play, but definetly not stoked. Originally The Vows contacted us and Photobooth through Myspace. I’m friends with Photobooth, and we agreed it would be a fun show. Then later that day me and Robbie (the drummer for Photobooth) are sitting at work, and realise that the night they offered is the same night that Socow and Nobunny are supposed to play in San Francisco. Now i’m ready to call off the show because both me and Robbie have been listening to Socow and Nobunny for a while, had never seen them play, and only knew about them through Myspace. They were these rare jems that we had just stumbled upon and they where finally coming to town, we couldn’t miss them We check their Myspace and find out that they want to play SF but dont have a show booked. So through the power of Myspace we conntacted them and everyone else and got them on the bill. Now, I am stoked on the show. so the show starts off great. The Passionistas opened and killed it! NoBunny was next and got everyone dancing! and now its time for SoCow! Anyway… to answer the initial question for why I love Socow… he played guitar to his ipod without a backing band… actually thats not true, he had a backing band playing invisible instruments; cute, right? but everything bad kept happening. the song fucked up, or someone put on a record while he was playing, or one of the invisible instruments fell out of tune… But then, the last song he played, no backing ipod, just him and guitar and everyone singing and clapping their hands… it was amazing! Through mishaps he made a really special evening.

So here is a so here is a SoCow song and a NoBunny video!

Oh, Yeah, Photobooth and The Vows where good too.

Here is the first video from San Francisco superstars Girls. The video is for their song “Morning Light”. I was going to talk about who directed it and who’s in it, but you can go to Cobain In A Coma for that info. Just watch the video…

Oh, yeah It was filmed at laura’s house, very fancy!

Also, check out the SF Bay Guardian write up they got for the show at the Rickshaw Stop with Port O’Brian it was amazing
