Girls, the lovely pop band that’s taking the music world by storm, bring their summer time pop to club club you’re dead. Its like if Oasis was ripping off the Beach Boys instead of Beatles. Come catch ‘em before they’re so big Mylie Cyrus is opening for them.

Opening instead is Puce Moment. This quartet manages to blend early 80’s New Zealand Flying Nun sounds with LA’s Paisley Underground but never forgetting they’re in San Francisco. Listen closely, you’ll know what we mean. Hit it Mary!
Come see SF’s hipsters mingle with the gays, marvel at the androgynous drag, the borderline inappropriate skits and the monthly over 40 gay man’s beauty contest all for the low admission price of $5. With 2 for 1 drink specials & DJ Alexxis of Thing Nite & extra special guests!
Gah, I’ve only been able to propagate the legend of the amazing Smashing Pumpkins cover band, Melancholy and the Infinite Radness, through word of mouth because my camera ran out of battery the night of this show. Put together by Myles and Aaron from The Passionistas, these guys ran through some essential ninties listening/modern alt rock classics as a double headed Billy Corgan monster with a bulleted list of reasons why you need to appreciate him more. I thought this was lost forever but, thanks to the miracle internet machine, here’s a bit of proof. PIX! IT HAPPENED!
Perhaps if everybody wishes real real hard the double headed Billy Corgan monster return from eyeliner lake to tell us how much we underappreciate him!

this wednesday, club club you’re dead could be in danger of getting serious or something with a night of psych/drone stuff. maybe come fag out and help us find the lighter side of it!!!

Sorry to crib from The Wire, but this week is crazy busy. They sez “Oddball combo from Portland, Oregon, who I’d always vaguely pegged as noise musicians. This is untrue, however. The music here is freaked out psych rock with wah wah guitar, sinewy sax, randomized male mouth movements and occasional female vocals that remind me a bit of early Fuzzhead. Beware the stone!!”

Sorry to crib from Last.fm, but this week is crazy didn’t get less busy since I plagarized that last bit. They sez: Alex Valentine and Keelin Mayer started Fake Lake in Chicago in 2006 in the space known as The Shappe Shoppe where they hosted many shows. Keelin was also a member Portland’s Evolutionary Jass Band and Djin Teeth (Fangs) as well as Scalpels of Chicago.
COME. Special guests! These bands sound rad! RAVE ON!
We should probably tell you something about Bronze and T.I.T.S. other than we love ‘em, they’re going to do a collaboration, and this is going to be the best CCYD yet. Bronze will put you into the deep freeze on the dancefloor with their impersonal electronic krautrock dark wave performance thing and T.I.T.S. (its really an acronym!) are going to shatter you with their scary walpurgisnacht chants and guitar doom. Also dont miss Tekniq, the greatest almost amateur dance troupe that could(n’t).
Did that help? We’re no music journalists, maybe check out this article about Bronze over at the Guardian (thanks for mentioning the club by name guys, you’re a stand up publication!):

Its time for Club Club You’re Dead dead again! Its kind of confusing that CCYD hasn’t gotten as gay as its going to be this month considering its put on by some gay guys in a gay bar with a gay ass label that features (mostly) gay bands. But, somehow, we’ve managed.
That’s about to change. This month we have HUNX from Gravy Train!!! trying to butch up his act with Oakland proto-punkers Bare Wires and Puce Moment which features Gary Fembot from Sta Prest/Feelings on a Grid and our very own Elton Tom. Puce Moment’s set is also an official entry into the over forty gay man’s beauty contest this month (a recent review of Puce Moment - “I like this band, they make me feel middle aged instead of just old!”), so older men you’ll need to step it up!

Over Forty Gay Beauty Contest!
Doesn’t that make you sweat with anticipation? Or does it make you uncomfortable and remind you of a night out with HUNX? Or both!
It does for us! A while ago we went down to LA, possibly to spend time with Hard Place and possibly try to raise capital for a feature length film we’re working on called “Lesbians of the Embarcadero!”. While we were there, BRIDEZ were playing at The Smell with Hunx and His Punx and the show was a lot like that video above. We never blogged about it because blogging is totally 2008 but, PIX! IT HAPPENED!
This is going to be so much fun. Work off those turkey day pounds dancing till your feet bleed!! The Over 40 Gay Man’s Beauty Contest was a total success, men over forty really want to show you their beauty! We’re doing it again, start getting your outfit and talent together. You have to do better than this awesome push up that won last month:
