Down about being separate but ‘equal’? Mystified by the new breed of gay unicorns the california supreme court birthed today? Don’t sweat it, come to the gay bar and have a good time with us!

The way California votes may be a total bummer but those bozos aren’t going to be at this show. There will be advance copies of the new Brian Glaze record Green Living (or, pre-order it through this here site). Mon Cousin Belge will continue to inch their way closer and closer to Spinal Tap like absurdities on their endless run of reunion shows! Hard Place will be making a rare San Francisco appearance and this is also your first chance to catch Myles of The Passionistas doing his new, super polished, super professional, super solo project.

Guardian Promo

“Hipsters, next time stick around even if your friends don’t. San Francisco fags and those who love them elevate MCB to cult-band status. I don’t make history, but I dig it.” – Guardian Blog

Look, we’re not pointing any fingers, but you should listen to the lady. Although, actually, we’re also not sure what she’s on about. There were people everywhere and we want to personally thank all of you for coming out a few weeks ago and having a good time. Well, we wish we could thank each of you personally, but this post is going to have to do.

We, as in World Famous in SF, were super stoked to have The Passionistas, BRIDEZ, and Girls sharing the stage with Mon Cousin Belge that evening and all everybody done made us proud. It was like showing up to a party and running into all of your friends there unexpectedly. The Passionistas greeted everyone with champagne, BRIDEZ are that loud drunk friend that you actually want at your party, Girls invited us into their bedroom for something a little more intimate, and MCB… well, we don’t know that we’ve ever been to a party that has had something like MCB in attendance. At least, not a party we’d talk about in polite company.

Our friends over at The Bay Bridged came and took some really nice photos:

Don’t worry if you just couldn’t make it, we believe in second chances! Mon Cousin Belge will be playing on October 4th at TransAm, a monthly gay rock ‘n roll spectacle! If you still need some convincin’ before coming to check out The Belge, check out these new reviews of Quelle Horreur:

“in a city that’s got such a great history for campy, subversive and wonderfully queer art and music it’s actually kind of sad to say that it’s becoming more rare to find a really good charged and dazzling homo-rock band around these parts lately. Luckily Mon Cousin Belge have been filling that void quite nicely.” – Aquarius Records

“This is hard core singing folks…Mahalia Jackson gone bad…Bessie Smith bleeding out in a hospital E.R.” – Whisperin And Hollerin

Now that The Department of Homeland Security can go back to doing what they do best (harassing hungry Mexicans and bothering Hosers) and have, in the meantime, ceased to molest Belgian superstar Emile of
Mon Cousin Belge, at long last, the boys were all in one country and finally, miraculously managed to create one of the most exciting, electric and eclectic, soul-searching recordings in this first part of a most promising new century. Following the thunderous surprise show of last June, the newly formed Mon Cousin Belge will be setting ablaze the fabulous Cafe du Nord, celebrating the official release of their debut recording, Quelle Horreur. Sharing the bill with Mon Cousin Belge are three of the very best that San Francisco has to offer.

If you have not yet heard or seen San Francisco’s own Girls, you’ll be glad to know that on this very special and most momentous occasions, MCB will have the huge honor of playing with one of the most mesmerizing, heart-felt and beautiful bands in the country.

In addition, MCB will be playing with the incredible Passionistas and Bridez. So, if you like it clever, tongue in cheek and elsewhere, sassy-boy-style, Passionistas will charm you within inches of your lives, and Bridez are equal parts demolition rawk gods and pretty little snot nosed brats, foul-mouthed and claws raised, shrill and gloriously noisy.

This will be a night to remember. Drinks, WILL BE SPILLED. So come out, 27 August to The Cafe du Nord, and be prepared for an historical night of international entertainment and down home debauchery.

Have you seen the headlines??? “BELGIAN GOVERNMENT FALLS…not many hurt”. Could Belgium be coming to an end? Those of you in the know must suspect it has something to do with Mon Cousin Belge’s new album, Quelle Horreur and their most recent show at Thee Parkside.

Emile has started to find his way back into the hearts, imaginations, and deepest fears of his American public and attention is starting to focus on this Belgian and his band of San Francisco back alley players. They’ve been heard mingling with other San Francisco talent in a recent Bay Bridged podcast, the San Francisco Bay Guardian pointed them out as one of the highlights of San Francisco’s world renowned pride festivities, and gay.com somehow got the idea that Emile would be a good spokes person for the gays:

“Are you involved with any LGBT community organizations in San Francisco? Which ones? What do you like about those groups?”

“I spend a great deal of your American dollars on cocktails. Is that what you mean?”

You can read the entire interview here

The paparazzi and press were out in force for this momentous occasion, the first show by Mon Cousin Belge since Emile found his way back into the US. Did you see?

Also, be sure to keep your calendar clear for Wednesday August 27th, MCB returns to the stage at Cafe du Nord for their record release party with Girls, BRIDEZ, and The Passionistas. The night will be nothing short of World Famous.

“J’adore Le Proletariat!”

Who are these neo-romantic, black leather and hot pink feather wearing freaks clawing down the doors of local record shops, pounding out the windows of sold-out venues, frothing at the mouth, their wide-eyed faces pointed toward a non-existent god begging for more…more…more? Why they are none other than rabid and rock-hungry fans of Mon Cousin Belge, the San Francisco based shock-glop group of glamor obsessed socialists, or as Belgian lead singer Emile would call them, “his people.”

If you’ve lived in San Francisco or Los Angeles for the last three years and you do not know of whom I speak, then you have mistakenly and grievously overlooked the most exciting band to come up in many, many years. And now, with the release of their debut recording “Quelle Horreur” (What Horror) on their American label World Famous in San Francisco, the international spotlight is mere inches away from this band of fabulous lunatics, whose music has been described as “representing the farthest reaches of what glam once was and still promises to be.”

The lead singer, Emile, a Belgian ex-pat, who speaks next to zero English and notoriously addicted to plastic surgery and Mahalia Jackson, possessing a four and a half octave singing range, leads his all-American band of faux-poseurs through all sorts of musical terrain, including full-blown assaults of post-punk ethos to hard core, soul-searching gospel and neo-thug anthems denouncing all things mediocre and less than fabulous.

You can learn more about the band here:

CDs are available in stores now, contact http://www.midheaven.com for more info.

In case you somehow missed it in the press, the latest dispatch from Emile:

Bon Soir Madames et Monsieurs!

Je suis Emile.

I will be in town one night only, just in from Jakarta, this coming
Saturday night at Thee Parkside, 28 June. I will be in performing with
my newly formed band. We had to get rid of a “little” dead wait…so
we fired our fat drummer! But we are gluttons for the punishments so
Mademoiselle Cote will be flying in from that glamorous
downtown…err…Louisville…err…kentucky…and joining in on with
fun with her very special, patented brand of…err…humor and
hammering out the pure gold faggot beats as the new Sodom celebrates
the pride of the homosexuals.

Cum and let me be inside you!!!

in loving…
