The Passionistas aren’t the only ones going gay: Everyone’s gay! And apparently our hero Emile makes no exception to the torrid sodomites who will grace our fair city 28 June at Thee Parkside. This is a party to commemorate thee fabulous Devoncito’s 30th birthday and for whatever “pride” one can muster.
It will mark the return of the newly re-formed Mon Cousin Belge and will feature performances by Ice Cream Socialites and The Caldonias (with our grrrrrrl Nadia of Fierce Perm! yayyyyyy!!!!!) DJ’s Hot Lunch and Sex Wax will be cracking out some killer punk rawk and faggot jams all night for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of abomination and international horreur!!!

THIS SHOW HAS MOVED TO SPACE GALLERY (NEXT TO HEMLOCK TAVERN ON POLK)
The Passionistas are so excited about their show this Thursday with So Cow and NoBunny they’ve made a video flyer. As usual, I have no idea how these guys process the world around them but I’m thoroughly entertained. You probably will be too:
Wait, here’s the print flyer for the show. Its more concise (but not as funny):
One of the more unusual moments in my life captured on film. If you can make it until the end, there’s a crowd shot which confirms this Mon Cousin Belge show took place at Lazy Bear. Hear what Tweaker Bitch really sounds like at http://www.myspace.com/moncousinbelge
Here’s another unusual moment with MCB, appearing in the promo video for The Gay Porn Film “The Velvet Mafia
Shockingly, I think its been months since we’ve written about The Passionistas. They’ve been laying low, but they haven’t been slacking. In fact, they’ve been on an epic journey to bring you three new songs. I mean epic, watch this:
Not to worry though, these guys are champions and hunkered down in a mission living room and emerged with some demos for their upcoming split seven inch with Hard Place on this here record label. “Ashlee Simpson” hones Aaron’s outsider rock, “Righters Block” is catchy as all get out, and “French” is Andrew’s debut and its a sweet (and maybe a little snarky) twee pop tune that quite possibly steals the show. You can listen to them over on their myspace page. And you can catch more of the never ending docudrama that is their life over on their youtube channel.
PLEASE TO COEM! Hard place will have their new record (Get Your Hopes Up) for sale on CD and LP. There might be tshirts too. Everything for sale will have been pre-loved by the band in one way or another.
To celebrate the release of the album “Get Your Hopes Up” (available now!) Actually Huizenga presents “Tuff It Out”. The video for the song that inspired the cover of the album but is not actually on the new album!
Outsider SF local Music Blog World Famous in San Francisco launches it’s eponymous record label, World Famous In San Francisco, with the debut full length of West Coast legends Hard Place. Entitled “Get Your Hopes Up” the record will be available on CD, Vinyl (which we are sure you, savvy reader, already knew is now cool again), and all over the internet (iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic, etc). Be the first on your block to buy this record! You can tell all your friends “I knew them when they were nothing more than a sensual leak in your grandmother’s panties”.
